Cheese Class $150.00 a day Per person NO one under 15 Enjoy learning the fine art of cheesemaking at Ballard Family Dairy & Cheese . The family-owned and operated dairy produces nationally-recognized cheese and you’ll see first hand how they do it. The days starts out at 6 a.m. with a tour of the cheese plant and plenty of time for questions. Then it’s on to the cheesemaking room where you’ll make white cheddar side by side with the Ballards. You will learn about pasteurization, cooking and stirring the cheese, cutting the curds and putting the cheese into molds and pressing. There will also be plenty of time for tasting the Ballard’s award-winning cheese and other tasty snacks. You’ll take home some fresh cheese curds that you helped make or one pound of Idaho white cheddar. The cheesemaking process is generally finished by 3 p.m. after which you can take a tour of the dairy and try your hand at milking a cow or feeding a baby calf. |
